Licorice Medusa documents movement capture, the process by which the same concentrations of power that create the conditions people organize against infiltrate and redirect that resistance, replacing organic opposition with credentialed intermediaries who perform dissent while managing it on behalf of the systems they claim to challenge.

This work is informed by Brandolini’s Law – the observation that the energy required to refute misinformation is an order of magnitude greater than the energy required to produce it. Rowling’s Law, coined here, extends that principle: when the misinformation is delivered by a culturally beloved figure with global reach, the asymmetry becomes structural rather than merely quantitative.

I’ve watched this pattern play out from within social justice movements for almost 20 years. The structure is the same every time. My participation in the feminist movement, in opposition to the Trans Industrial Complex, was personal, which created particular pressure to suspend my value system, my politics, and my inclination to call out systemic exploitation and the subversive narratives that undermine the cause.
